Lovely Georgian building ideally situated in the city, quiet street but short walk across the bridge to shops, bars and cafes We recieved a friendly welcome upon arrival from lady on reception and were given the keys to our room in the Bjoux loft room. Albeit on the small side, (clue is in the name loft), it was perfect for a short stay as a couple. The room features a comfortable Queen size bed, wardrobe, kettle, electric fan and a modern en suite with walk in shower. Rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean and also had air con which we were grateful for given the balmy summer evening it was when we stayed! There are two sash windows (cannot open but didnt need to) with nice views of Durham cathedral in the distance which overlooks the city There is a cute little bar next to the reception where we had a drink in the afternoon, and to the rear of the property there is a restaurant and small beer garden though we didnt use it during our stay.

Amazingly beautiful, quirky and unique property. If you are looking for something different and very quirky look no further! Beautiful rooms in a great location. Only a few minutes walk into Durham centre. The rooms are amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to return and experience some of the other room available. Breakfast was really nice. Menu looked good however we didn't have anything other than breakfast. Drink were reasonable price and have a good variety. We would highly recommend and have a very relaxed stay. There is on street parking at the front of the hotel its free after 2pm. You can advance pay 8am - 11am for the following morning

Location was ideal for everything - 2minute walk to river, bars and restaurants. Lady at reception was very friendly and gave us some useful information as this was our first visit to Durham. Very quirky building and the individuality of each room was special We stayed in The Cruise room - felt like we were staying on a ship with all the porthole features lovely furniture and map covering whole ceiling was intriguing to look at. 👍Breakfast was lovely and fresh and good value. smashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough toast was delicious.

Stayed in the Penthouse. Beautifully presented room, very comfortable bed and stunning bathroom! High quality finish throughout! We also ate from set valentines menu in restaurant, lovely ambience and very friendly staff providing great service. Only slight disappointment was the pudding as it was more a treacle sponge readymade microwave style than sticky toffee pud, but we were full from the delicious steaks anyway so not an issue. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay and eat here again as thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary. It’s really handy for bars and restaurants as it’s right in the centre of town - we were visiting Zen to recreate our first date and it’s about a minutes walk from the hotel! The room was lovely, with a four poster bed, bath, shower, TV and plenty of toiletries and complimentary biscuits. We loved the quirky decor and would return to try more rooms! The bar downstairs was handy and we would definitely try the restaurant in future. Staff were friendly and we had a fab stay!
